The NTRCFL opened for business in 2000 and has provided exceptional digital forensics services and training to 150 law enforcement agencies in North Texas. The NTRCFL is managed by a coalition of law enforcement agencies in our region, and we are always looking for new partners to join us. What is an RCFL?

An RCFL is a one-stop, full service forensics laboratory and training center devoted entirely to the examination of digital evidence in support of criminal investigations. The NTRCFL supports investigations into such crimes as, but not limited to –

  • Terrorism
  • Child Pornography
  • Homicide
  • Violent Crimes
  • The Theft or Destruction of Intellectual Property
  • Internet Crime
  • Fraud.

*MAINTENANCE ALERT*

The RCFL Training Registration System will be down for maintenance for one hour on Wednesday, February 1 between 5 PM and 10 PM EST. During that time, the site will be unavailable for any activity.

New Service Offering - Loose Media Kiosks

The NTRCFL is now offering the Loose Media Kiosk (LMK) preview tool to investigators. LMK enables users to review evidentiary data found on such items as USB devices, CD/DVDs, flash memory cards, floppy disks and Firewall media. There's no charge to use the LMK, but investigators should call 972-559-5800 in advance to use the tool.

1/12/12: Saudi College Student's Trial Postponed — Khalid Ali-M Aldawsari, 23, the Saudi citizen who attended South Plains College near Lubbock, Texas, will go on trial for attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction on May 14, 2012. The North Texas RCFL (NTRCFL) is supporting the investigation — see the full story.

4/13/11: North Texas RCFL Supported Successful Child Pornography Prosecution — Dallas resident Timothy Honnoll, 39, plead guilty in federal court to receiving child pornography, and will serve eight years in prison along with a lifetime of supervised release. The North Texas RCFL provided digital forensics support to the investigation which was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood. According to a press release issued by the FBI's Dallas Division, 600 images and 180 videos of child pornography were found on Honnoll's computer and related storage media.
