New NTRCFL Associate Instructor for Image Scan

In May of 2004, Senior U.S. Pretrial Services Officer Lanny Newville of the Western District of Texas, San Antonio division became the first authorized associate instructor for the North Texas Regional Computer Forensics Laboratory.  Lanny had to jump several steep hurdles in order to qualify for this role including an on-site evaluation by Image Scan System’s Chief Instructor and NTRCFL Training Coordinator, Rod Gregg.

Lanny will be instructing the FBI’s Image Scan program on behalf of the NTRCFL for the U.S. Pretrial Services and U.S. Probation Officers in the Texas area and throughout the United States. Lanny is also the first non-FBI or non-RCFL instructor authorized to instruct the Image Scan program. We anticipate that this trailblazing effort will catch on in other areas of the United States.

Image Scan is a system comprised of software and hardware designed to safely preview a subject’s computer for graphics files during a consent search and is strictly available only to law enforcement personnel.
